Approved client timesheet attachment with invoice
Can you include feature to upload screen capture (pdf, jpeg. etc) of approved timesheet from clients time keeping system to be sent as attachment with invoice. This is now common practice for IT contractors.

Hi there
Attachments on invoices (as we currently do with expenses and bank account entries) is a feature we'll definitely be adding to FreeAgent, and we'll ensure that these attachments can be emailed. -
-
-
-
I would really like this feature .. It's a small pain having to save the PDF and go out to my email client to sent the invoice with an attachment, when 90% of the functionality is already there in Freeagent
It would be nice to reduce this down a step and send from FreeAgent. -
-
Seconded, this is an annoying problem I have right now. It would also mean I don't have to store timesheets on my PC and email client.
-
-
Could you advise when this is likely to be delivered? It's the one piece functionality that I'm looking for that Freeagent doesn't have.
-
-
I also would like to use this product but having to manual attach invoices is a deal breaker....any update on this?
-
-
I've just been looking for this feature, and was a little disappointed it doesn't already exist.
An absolute must have for your next release! -
-
Hi any update on this as I really need this feature, it's something that's actively stopping me from purchasing freeagent as currently using the trial version and noticed I can't attached my timesheet to the invoice, which I can't use unfortunately until this feature is added - doesn't help clients internet access blocks web based emails and found freeagent isn't blocked and can do all my business expenses, mileage, invoicing, timesheets all online instead of having to do manually at home :(
I'm extremely surprised this was requested over a year ago and an offical rep stated it will definately be added. -
-
Hi everybody,
We've been really busy with other improvements and features so we just haven't had the time to do this yet I'm afraid. Sorry about that.
I'm not sure if this helps anybody but a new service, which integrates with FreeAgent is set to launch this week which will allow people to share their FreeAgent timesheets online with clients.
http://www.safetygoat.co.uk/2010/10/p...
I've not seen it in action yet but perhaps it's of some interest to you guys?
We will be adding attachments to invoice emails in the future, but I'm not sure when this will be yet. -
-
No, that isn't helping much as it's not a very professional way of providing the basic information required for me to get paid when invoicing my clients. I'm currently on the trial version and I must say so far I was rating it all as 10/10 but this is a real problem.

+1 , in France , timesheet approved by the customer, must be attached with the invoice attached, it's very improtant feature.
-
-
+1 from me. Ability to include a pdf/jpeg timesheet would really help my workflow.

Hi everyone
We are planning to allow additional attachments to invoice and estimate emails but there are quite a number of higher priority features we're going to be working on first. So I can't give you a time scale for when it will be available, but it's certainly on our internal product roadmap.
In terms of what else we're working on, or thinking about working on, take a look at The Depot:

@Olly
Come on this is now been asking for over 2 years !!
This is something soo simple yet you still have not actually implement this. !! -
-
Not much in the depot... What's the crack.. If it's not in the depot, is in not on the development radar yet?
These sort of requests do seem very simple, compared to some of the items that are being worked. MAybe not 'headline-grabbing' enough. -
-
I hardly think that 'Invoice-level Purchase Order Numbers ' is a higher priority feature which according to the deport has been deliverd compared with this which has been over 2 years
It's on the welcome to depot - look at the image and that was 3 months ago, question is where has it gone as it was 7th place
http://www.freeagentcentral.com/centr... -
-
+1 , In France it's mandatory to have timesheet with invoice.
Even if your tool is interesting, I can not use-
Sebastien
The workaround is to save the timesheet report and the invoice in question as PDFs and send the email to your client manually. I'm sorry this feature isn't integrated into FreeAgent right now.

WOW DOH! I wish I had thought of that workaround !!!
no wait I have been doing that since day 1, jeese!
thanks for the but very obvious response, so to get flexibilty from 'FreeAgent' to allow you as a free agent so to speak to concentrate on what we as businesses/companies/contractors/freelancers we have to do something manual when it's a feature that's been on going for years now.-
Bit harsh. To be fair he was just answering the guy's question / comment.
On the other hand Olly - you responded to this issue 2 years ago to say it was coming. How low down the product backlog does a feature have to be to take 2 years+ to deliver... -
-
Jim,
From Sebastien's comment, stating that he "couldn't use" FreeAgent because of this, I assumed he wasn't aware of the workaround.
Apologies to you both if I was just stating the obvious.

The Depot is an interesting idea, but it needs about 50 things on it, not a dozen.
The FreeAgent guys are lovely people, but there aren't very many of them, and they've had a habit of saying "it's on the list" and then nothing happens for two years, Classic expectation management problem.
Ed, Olly - If you decide not to do something, then fine (it's your product) - but be honest and tell us! -
-
Hi Charles,
I totally agree that we've managed customer expectations badly in the past, but I do feel we're much better at it now. However we're being judged (however rightly or wrongly) on stuff we wrote 2 years ago, when, to be honest, we still had a lot to learn about customer relations :)
The Depot is only a subset of things we're working for the precise reason that we don't want to over promise anything. It's a teaser for some of the stuff that's coming soon, and features that we want to gauge feedback on. I realise that's frustrating to some people, but it's how we want to use it, and I think you'd agree it's better than nothing at all.
As you say, we are a small team, although we've been growing quickly, and putting increasing amounts of resource into development.
Unfortunately though, and this may seem hard to believe, with an app as fully-featured as FreeAgent, and with a to-do list as long as ours, sometimes releasing a piece of functionality does take 2 years or more. That's just how much we have to do.
It's not a question of "deciding not to do something" but you have to appreciate the high volume of feature requests we get, and the core need to continue to provide a fast, stable and bug free application for all our users. Because that's something everybody wants!
Anyway, please do accept my apologies if you feel you've been mislead in the past. I honestly feel we've made some improvements to our handling of expectations, but we've still got lots to learn.
I would like to thank everybody for their feedback and passion surrounding the product. We do listen to all the criticism, and this is not ignored. -
-
I agree with Charles and understand what Roan is saying. I think the issue here is two-fold:
1) A lot of contributors bought-in to FreeAgent in its infancy, over two years ago, when it was far from feature-rich or bug free. They were made to feel part of the process. This is good. Gives everyone a warm fuzzy feeling. Maybe things have changed since then.
2) Emphasis has shifted. So now FreeAgent is doing big strategic things and the smaller 'missing bits' or 'bugs' may not get the attention that others believe they deserve.
As you point out, the Depot isn't anything. Just a "teaser". I think what I and others are looking for is something saying "this is on our radar for the 2011.2 release" and hasn't been forgotten. There are quite a lot of these items knocking around and I believe people feel fobbed off.
If FreeAgent is going in a different direction, where you geniunely don't want to entertain this sort of thing then I think someone needs to say so -- this is not a bad thing for a business, just a choice... Bill Gates doesn't reply to my emails asking for for Ribbon menu's to be removed, but he seems to have a few quid in the bank!
Just my two-peneth.
Robin. -

ok ,but it's possible to have a release date for this feature ?
-
-
is it integrated today or still not?
I'd need that
I'd need to upload estimates validated (signed) by my customers to in order to store all in one place. Is it included ? -
-
still no response. I truly believe in creating a concurrent application with this basic feature

Interesting. But actually it is not the feature requested, the customer must sign the timesheet, and it must be attached to the invoice.
-
-
sebastien, if you create that, I'm in!
-

-
-
we should be able to attach a document for each step of the workflow.
the famous frenchy "bon pour accord" exists in other country, I guess! -
-
Olly or Roan , to response quickly a this request.
Can you add in your api, an attachement feature with invoice , like as expense ?-
Hi Sebastien
Noted. I can't say whether or when this will be added but we'll bear it in mind.

If customer pressure bumps features up the to do list add me to the list.
My need is subtly different (I want to attach notes so I can keep the calculations associated with an invoice/estimate with the invoice/estimate) but the solution is the same - attachments for estimates and invoices, yes please -
-
+1
Attachments for invoices, and for contacts please. If I have a change of billing address letter arrive, I want to be able to attach it to the contact, so that somebody else seeing the change of address can view the original if they wish, WITHOUT bothering me about it. I think for many of us the whole point of using a SAAS accounting system is to centralise information, and use that information more efficiently. Unfortunately I'm not convinced that the FreeAgent staff are quite so aligned to these expectations :-)
I understand that you don't currently intend to compete with SAAS project management systems, but I don't think that's what many of your customers are asking you to do. Many of us are just looking to store our accounting related items in one place. If you keep bumping these requests down your 'to do' list, or respond by stating that you don't wish to compete with project management applications/SAAS systems (even when the request was not for project management type functionality), someone else will come along and offer us what we'd love to see... -

to all persons interested, thank you for that post up, because believe ills BANK ACCOUNTS reordering functionality is more important than this feature:

I’m
excited
Hello,
I'd said I'd update people when we had some more news, and we do!
We've now started work on a project which will let you store company files and documents in a new Files area. The next step will let you attach these files to outgoing invoice and estimate details.
Further down the line we'll probably look at the process of saving files (timesheets, statements of accounts etc) directly into the Files area, but we'll be releasing this in small iterations so people can start using it and giving us feedback.
Hopefully you're all as excited about this as we are, and I am sorry it's taken this long to get going. -
-
-
Good news ,Thanks a lot.
I would like to be beta tester ;-) -

We've now released email attachments for invoice and estimate emails. I hope everyone likes it:
http://www.freeagentcentral.com/centr...
Let me know what you think.
The current workflow for attaching a timesheet to invoice is still a bit clunky, but we will be improving this by letting you save timesheet pdfs directly into the Files area. -
-
I would like the attachment to be DIRECTLY against the invoice not the email ( our invoice pdf's are generated and malied externally by my recruitment agency who force us to use their invoicing system) but still wish to track these in freeagent- so I can still track payments. Why cant an add attachment button just be added as has been done for the explanation form ?
Its been over 3 years - any reason for the hold up - it def seems there must be a tech reason - as I dont understand the hokey - file upload and attach to email approach currently implemented.
As more and more agents force contractors to use their systems for raising invoices the more this is needed> I suggest you do a survey of what features are valued / used in freeagent - for me invoice generation to send emails to clients is not used as I am hamstringed by how many agency wants my company to communicate with my clients. Reconciling invoice and expense payments with my bank account is a high pri. -
