I'm trying to make extensive use of the attachments feature to add pictures/scans of receipts against every transaction, which I'm then billing to clients. When I issue said invoice to client, can the system also auto-send those receipts?
If not, would seem to be a big pain in the ass - clients need receipts!

Hi Robert,
At the present time FreeAgent doesn't support automatic emailing of attachments with invoices. We have big plans for attachments in the coming year and this particular feature is one we're keen to add.

Any updates on this issue - I generate so many receipts and my clients need to see them all, there all scanned and uploaded to free agent - would be great to say "attach images to invoice" in the advanced options when invoicing. -

Hi Jason,
This is very much still in our minds, but we've widened the scope so we'll be introducing a company-wide "filing cabinet" which will let you store various documents, receipts, scans etc which could then be attached to different data entries in FreeAgent.
Attaching files to invoice emails will definitely be part of this.
Some initial work has been done, and it's on our mid-term roadmap but I can't give you an exact timescale. -

Ideally I would like to see all attachments blended into one pdf file with the invoice as the front page. At the moment I have to use something like pdf tools to merge all the pdf'ed attachments and that means that iti s not really worth uploading attachments at all if I have to do it locally.-
The new system we're proposing won't merge all receipts into a single pdf but it will allow you to attach multiple receipts to a invoice email. So you won't have to do anything locally if you're happy with that outcome.

Well along with some other things like multi-currency this is near the top of our roadmap. We'll be cementing this more over the next couple of weeks so we should be able to give you some more details soon.

Any further updates on timescale?
I need to keep a pdf of the statistics that justify the invoice with the invoice. It's for a new business that I really want to use Freeagent for, integrated with Capsule CRM. -

yep... definitely just needed this feature.
i regularly invoice clients + expenses. If you can attach expenses as pdf's or jpegs and send them all as one.
I just assumed this would be possible in the projects area so I went ahead and uploaded each of my pdf receipts to each expense - was a bit disappointed when i saw the feature wasn't there so I ended up having to send an email using my mail programme rather than through the system.
A disjolted workflow - so the new feature would definitely be welcomed! -

Hi,
I have just taken out the 30 day trial on FA and I am impressed at the scope of the application. I use Toggle to track time and Inuit Billing Manager to invoice.
I am looking for one system that will do time tracking, billing and estimates and FA certainly pips the others I'm using currently EXCEPT for one thing. The invoice system does not allow me to attatch time tracking details like Billing Manager does. (And a small thing - user definable tags for time tracking/tasks would be good but not essential)
I would subscribe to FA today if the file attachment functionality was present. I would rather not have to use two systems but hey, at the minute the other two are free for me. Why would I want to pay to use stop doing what I can do now.
I'd move over in a flash if it got fixed. Just think it's important for you to know this issue is costing you money.

c'mon - how hard is it to give us something with attached receipts.
It seems crazy that this has been rolling for over a year and nothing has been released. This is important.
Grab attached receipts for the included expenses, pdf them up and include them in the invoice pdf.
Please.
Have been looking at this and its been going on for 3+ years. Guys, try some iterative, incremental development. The simplest thing that will work might be to let us pick which expenses or which reciepts to attach and you zip them up.
I'm happy to help you do this if needs be. Really annoying that its not there. (and I'm a paying customer!). -

Cant understand why this isn't higher priority.... attaching expense receipts to invoices is pretty much mandatory if you want to get them paid. Not having them attached often gives the client an excuse for delaying payment etc.. this subject/request has been rolling on for years now- surely it cant be that difficult? -

I have been thinking that I would consider moving to another platform.
Not so much because FreeAgent is not good, but that something this important is not being adequately addressed. Sometimes I send 5 or more invoices a month, all with expenses and I need to download them first and use a pdf app to add the receipts to them. Its a drag and I feel these folks aren't listening. -

It's a big oversight by FA. This is such a fundamental part of service companies reclaiming expenses with proof of purchase. Can't believe that this has been knocking around for three years.

I would also like to add my voice to these here. I frequently need to re-bill customers for expenses, and they always need either a physical copy of a receipt, or at least a scanned version. It looks like this feature was first discussed around 3 years ago. It seems very surprising that this isn't yet in the product considering how comprehensive it is otherwise. -

We're currently working on a new Files area within FreeAgent, that will let you store important documents and files in your FreeAgent account.
The next step will be to let you attach files to outgoing invoice and estimate emails. Beyond this, allowing expense receipts to be automatically attached will be a later step.
So we'll be getting there in stages, but we are making positive steps towards this feature and there will be some workarounds in the meantime. -

Can I ask if you're looking at only hosting files within FreeAgent, or will there be the option of linking to an existing file storage such as dropbox? Ideally, I'd like to keep all my files in dropbox and reference them somehow within FA.

Hi,
Just to update everyone. With the latest release you can now attach receipts of expenses directly to invoice emails.
You can now also save your Timesheet reports into the Files area so they can be easily added to outgoing emails.
