How do I print P&L and balance sheet reports?
My accountant would like for me to email him a copy of the P&L and balance sheet. Is there a way to print these reports? I already gave him access to our FAC account but he would rather not have it.

Well, you can just use the print function in your web-browser, but the results don't look very nice.
There have been conversations on here before about adding an option to generate a PDF file from these screens (like the PDF output for invoices). But so far, nothing has come of it.
I take screenshots from the FreeAgent screen, and then paste them into Word, crop them, and then save the result out as a PDF file.
Pretty rubbish, but there's no alternative.-
Arlo Mason March 01, 2011 12:31Thanks Charles. I ended up doing a copy and paste into a Google docs spreadsheet and then reformatting it. I would think that being able to print reports would be a pretty standard item for an accounting package like FAC.EditDeleteRemove

Charles Verrier March 01, 2011 12:43Yeah - they're going for the whole "your accountant can just log in" thing, which sometimes works, but not always!EditDeleteRemove

When I need to do this, its just easier to select the table (from the blue title box in the grid) until the end, CTRL+C to copy, open up excel and paste. All the cells go in nicly - its just missing the formatting, but allows you to format how you see fit. If you have office 2007/2010, the table auto format actually works it all out for you as well, applying the headers and footer formats.

Hi Arlo,
Yes I agree with jaffa_brown this certainly is the way I would recommend our users to do.
I hope this helps

Good to see this solution coming up here. As I have posted on similar threads:
Thanks to @seventy6 who said this on another thread: "i found a simple select, copy and paste from the monthly profit and loss screen to excel works really well."
Clunky as all hell, but it works. I'm completely bemused that you can't export every screen report to csv. I don't get it. -
-
sorry. but it's just ridiculous, that free agent is not supporting a proper way to print out reports.!!!!! this fact really makes me think of changing the software.

Exporting to Excel is OK - but why should I have to spend time formatting stuff before I can send it out in a professional looking document? I don't like sending Excel files out via email either - so I also have to save it out as PDF before sending it.
The reports look gorgeous within FreeAgent - I just want that - in a form that can be delivered and read offline. -

Chaps, there is another solution worth looking at for printing to pdf. This technique allows you to print tables in web pages as PDF documents for emailing/transporting etc:
http://www.ehow.com/how_5070885_conve...
It works for me, but then I am fairly happy to capture and save into Excel as I can format in a style that I like, and print to pdf (CutePDF allows free saving to PDF from any Windows app) - it only takes me 60 seconds for any table to grab, paste, format and print. -
-
Now see? - I've been looking for screen-capture software that could cope with scrolling! Thank you!
For others reading this - This is the web-address for the capture software that was mentioned in the article...

these work arround's are all fine... but I want FAC to implement a simple feature and I just don't see, why I should import to xls or capture for pdf-generation, if the solution could be done easy by fac.

Paul, I hear what you are saying, and of course 'easy' is a relative term, but these solutions work. Maybe FA need to add this onto the depot for voting?

Don't forget to click the 'I have this question# button it all helps to push things up the roadmap....

Just about to try the workarounds mentioned - but hey - I agree with Paul. I'm amazed also that this isn't part of the programme's functionality..

Wow, Free Agent is so awesome, but I can't print?
Surprising.
If you need a pdf of your page and you are on a mac, here is a free program that will make a screen shot of your info, and then you can choose to save as an image or a pdf.
You will need to hit the little hand icon to login to FAC before you can copy and paste the web address into the top address bar.
