Can I have multiple projects on one invoice - I am an outsource for a few people and they don't want a different invoice for every project, they just want a total one.
Will I have to delete my project/timestamps and produce a manual invoice?

Tidygraphic,
When you edit an invoice you can change the project and choose to add in time and expenses from that project instead. If you do this repeatedly you'll be able to handle multiple projects in that way.
Unfortunately, the invoice when sent is assigned to the last selected project (or no-project, of course) for the purposes of comparing it against the budget. If that doesn't matter to you then all is well.
If it does, rest assured we're looking to improve these areas to better support your kind of requirement. We'd mark the invoice items created from each project against that budget rather than the invoice as a whole. -

This feels really clunky and confusing, to me as a user, and I expect to a client who sees time charged to the wrong (last selected) project. I keep poking at it and it feels awkward and disorienting.

Hi Rob,
I agree it's far from ideal.
All I can say is that we're expanding the development team so that we can address this and other limitations sooner. Still can't promise when, though, sorry. -
-
Hi Ed,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I realise you're stuck between a rock and a hard place, but this and the many other limitations, some raised several years ago, do leave me wondering just how much FA really values it's customers.
£25 a month ain't cheap. I think we deserve better, and if we don't get it, I for one am going to start getting restless.
As a developer myself, it baffles me how such a simple but much needed feature like this could be procrastinated over for two years (this is the second thread on it).
I have 4-6 projects on the go at any given time, and deliver enhancements like this within short timeframes day in day out.
Forgive me, but what are your development team actually doing?

Hi Rob,
I do share your frustration, and we have to make hard decisions every day about how to prioritise changes that take into account the needs of all 2,500 of our existing subscribers (and future ones). Believe me, the list of things we would _like_ to do is very long indeed.
There are also some complexities about multi-project invoices like
* to which project does the invoice belong for the purposes of listing invoices?
* where do the non-time and non-expense items belong when calculating profitability?
added to which is the fact that flexibility (mostly) necessitates complexity.
Rock and a hard place, indeed. I'm sorry you've not seen the results you would have liked out of our prioritisation process, but your voice has not gone unheard. -

I just ran into this issue. I noticed this was last looked at almost a year ago. What's the current state of this feature request? It's something I now know I'd really like to have.

Thanks Emily I didn't know about the depot. Shame you're not planning to work on this, but it's nice to see the upcoming features!

Hi Ashley,
Thanks for your feedback. We'll update the depot as new features are delivered and planned!
Kind regards,

Is this feature something that can be accomplished through the Free Agent API?
-
-
Is this sorted yet? It's a real pain to have to edit invoices in this way to accommodate what should be a pretty straight forward request?
-
-
Please can we get an update on this? I recently signed up for FA and do lots of freelance work for companies who won't want to see multiple invoices from me for their different projects, but nor do I want to lose the ability to measure profitability.
Looks like I'll be transposing invoice items out to my old template so I can do this manually and track the part-invoices in freeagent. -
-
Sorry we don't have any more positive news on this, but it isn't something we're working on right now.
-
Thanks Roan for commenting. Could you elaborate on why you don't see it as a worthy of being implemented. It does seem to be a popular request/not too major a request?

Hi Tim,
FreeAgent has always had a mapping of a single project per invoice. It would be possible to change this, but it's not a trivial change.
That's not to say we shouldn't do it, but there is greater demand for other things which we're working on right now.
There are a number of feature requests which stretch back 2 years or more. Some of these we'll tackle, but some we won't. I can understand the frustration of people having to employ workarounds but the reality is the existing functionality is satisfactory for most of our users, so this is a lower priority.
If this changes, we'll let you know! -

Wow... This was originally requested over two years ago.
Amazing. -
-
Hmmm, this is a shame. It pretty much wipes out the value in projects to me.

What I don't get is you can easily run out a timesheet report for one client spanning multiple projects over a fixed time, to be able to simply add the billing amount against each of those items, or grouped by project would suffice.
I cannot understand how it can be so complex.
I might just start sending those reports and mark IN PEN LIKE THE 80s what the cost is for each item. -

Yeah any news on this, could really do with this right now!

I consider this an important feature and really needs to be addressed - I don't see how such a simple and functional feature could be overlooked.
Surely we have enough members in the community now wanting this feature for it to be now considered a high priority? -
-
As well as this, it would be nice to do the same with bills, i.e. assign a certain line on a bill as an expense to a project?
-
-
We might be better off to all pool our thoughts around this topic in a single thread. The one linked below is slightly older and has more replies, so getting a single consolidated thread of what we would want this feature to look and feel like might mean we a) get a result sooner (don't hold your breath seems to be a valid caveat here), and b) if/when it does arrive it will do what we really want it to.
