Invoice Discount for Early Payment

I would like to offer clients a discount for early invoice payment, rather than penalise them for paying late.

I see there's a discount amount field already present under Advanced Options, but I would like to add some criteria to that option to explain the terms of the discount.
e.g 10% discount if paid by 25 Dec 2011

Is this possible and how might I go about it? I

Hi,

Thanks for contacting us.

You can use the default text box to explain the discount or you can insert another invoice item line detailing the reason for the discount and % then input the calculated discount as a (-) minus figure and this would work too.

I hope this helps,

Kind regards

Charissa

Hi Charissa,

What if they don't pay on time, surely that will then mess up, won't it?

Kind Regards,

David

@David, I too would like help with this.

I would like to offer a discount to any invoice paid within a certain time. After that time the invoice would revert to the full amount.

Is this going to be a completely manual process? Is there no way it can be automated?

I presume there is still no news on settlement discount? / Late payment charges.

I note that in the article below Emily Coltman suggests this very practice as a good business tip for getting paid quickly.

But if Freeagent doesn't handle it (without credit noting and re-invoicing)???

Hi Neil

Thanks for your post.

I've added your +1 for this to be automated but can't give you a timeline I'm afraid.  Sorry I can't help more right now.

Regards

Suzanne

But Freeagent does effectively not support this!

Any news on if this is to be considered for development?
